Never Dated: A Font That Adds Heart to Your Web Design

I was working on a new portfolio site for a creative client, and I needed a font that would reflect the personality of their work. The project was a mix of modern design and warm, personal storytelling. I wanted something that felt authentic yet professional—something that could bridge the gap between a polished website and a human touch.

Choosing the Right Font for the Right Moment

I started by testing several fonts in the hero section. Most of them felt too sterile or generic. I needed something that could convey warmth and authenticity without overshadowing the content. That’s when I came across Never Dated. It’s a charming handwritten font with a playful and heartfelt vibe, and it immediately caught my eye.

The first thing I noticed was how it looked over an image banner. The soft curves and natural flow of the letters gave the layout a sense of character. It wasn’t too bold or too subtle—it struck the perfect balance between decorative and readable. I placed it over a high-quality photo of the client’s work and was impressed by how it enhanced the visual story without being distracting.

Testing Readability Across Devices

Next, I checked how Never Dated performed on mobile screens. I know readability is crucial for user experience, especially on smaller devices. I tested it in different contexts: headers, buttons, and short phrases. While the font had a nice personality, I made sure to pair it with a clean sans serif font for body text to maintain clarity.

On dark backgrounds, Never Dated stood out nicely, but I had to adjust the contrast slightly to ensure it remained legible. On light backgrounds, it worked well too, especially when used as a decorative accent or for headings. I also considered how it looked on small buttons—its size and spacing were just right for CTA elements without losing its charm.

Using Never Dated in Different Layouts

Never Dated is incredibly versatile. I used it for the main heading on the homepage, which helped set the tone for the entire site. It also worked beautifully in the hero section, where it added a personal touch to the headline. For the call-to-action button, I paired it with a bold sans serif font to create a clear visual hierarchy.

On the about page, I used it for subheadings and quotes, giving the content a more personal feel. It also worked well in blog headers and social media graphics, where it added a bit of flair without overwhelming the design. I even considered using it for logo text, though I decided to go with a simpler option for now.

Font Pairing and Brand Identity

When choosing a font like Never Dated, it’s important to think about how it fits into your brand identity. This font is great for creative portfolios, boutique online stores, and coaching websites where a personal touch is essential. I paired it with a modern sans serif font like Montserrat for body text, creating a balance between style and functionality.

For a more editorial look, I might consider pairing it with a serif font like Georgia. But for most digital projects, a clean sans serif works best. I also thought about how the font would perform in different languages and ensured that the webfont supported the necessary characters for the client’s target audience.

Technical Considerations Before Launch

Before finalizing the font, I checked the included styles, webfont availability, and file formats. Never Dated comes with multiple weights and alternates, which gives me flexibility in different design scenarios. It also supports multilingual use, which is a plus for international clients.

I made sure to include proper licensing information since the font is a commercial one. It’s important to know whether it can be used on websites, landing pages, and digital templates. I also considered performance—loading a webfont can affect page speed, so I optimized it to ensure fast loading times.

Building a Polished Online Brand Experience

By using Never Dated in key areas like headers, hero sections, and CTAs, I was able to create a cohesive brand experience that felt both professional and personable. The font helped tell the client’s story in a way that felt genuine and relatable.

It’s not just about aesthetics—it’s about how the font affects user engagement and brand trust. A well-chosen font can make a big difference in how users perceive your brand. With Never Dated, I found a font that feels like a natural extension of the client’s voice and vision.
